Geometric Methods for Optimal Control

Objectives: 
With this semester, we intend to connect the different Spanish research groups mainly included in the network Mechanics, Geometry and Control (GMC network http://www.gmcnetwork.org/), as well as other groups from different fields, that work on the most recent practical applications of the geometry of optimal control. We want to have a bearing on the training of young researchers on those fields, offering a rigorous and deep approach to novel topics on those subjects. That is why we plan to organize a wide range of seminars, workshops and specific courses. On the other hand, we intend to give more international visibility of the high quality research made by the different Spanish groups which, in the last years, have made important contributions to the open problems related to Geometry, Mechanics and Control.
 
 
The program will be developed during the second semester of the year 2010, having as centre the facilities of ICMAT (CSIC-UAM-UC3M-UCM), but with activities in other universities. In particular, the following activities will be held:
